Thanks for the reply but I have been through the site.  I am on a MBP using a Apple time capsule to connect wirelessly.  The HP F4580 is failing to find the SSID for the wireless according to the printout.  I need to find a way to point the printer to the correct SSID

Hi @Minke1

Thank you for posting back.

There are two ways to setup your printer.

Option one: Push bottom

Option Two: Using USB cable

Refer the below document to setup your printer.

I have done the add and remove a few times.  The printer does not come up in the Bonjour window as it does not get recognized by the network.  Is there anything else we can try?

Hi @Minke1

Thank you for posting back.

  1. On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wireless button for two seconds.

     NOTE:

The printer starts a timer that allows you about two minutes to press the WPS button on the wireless router.

  2. Press and hold the WPS button on the wireless router for several seconds. The printer automatically finds the wireless network and then configures the connection.

  • If your printer successfully connects to the wireless network, continue with the next step.

  • If your printer did not connect to the wireless network with WPS, you need to use a temporary USB connection to set up your printer on the wireless network. Continue with the next step.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

NO Luck..  I pressed the WIFI button the printer for two seconds, then pressed the WPS button on the modem.  THe Airport time capsule does not have a WPS button BUT  when I went into the airport Utility under BASE STATION you can select add WPS printer and the it asks if you want to add by PIN number of First choice.  I selected FIRST CHOICE and waited  a few minutes , NO LUCK.  I rememberwhen I first set this up years ago I had to use the USB cable.  When I hook up with the USB cable it will connect and print  BUt as soon as disconnect the cable i loose the printer

Hi @Minke1

Thank you for posting back.

As you have mentioned earlier that that print works using the USB cable. I recommend you to rerun printer software and you will get an option to convert to wireless option, select that and follow the prompts. Do not unplug the USB cable until the software prompts you.

Check if it helps.

Let me know how it goes and you have a good day ahead.
