The encoder strip popped off of my OfficeJet 7612 when I had a paper jamb. I am trying to put it on, but there is nothing to attach it to on the left side of the printer.The tab is not a shape that corresponds with the end of the ribbon. I don't see a clip lying inside the printer, and nothing makes nose when I flip it over. Can I buy another clip? Is there any other way to attach the ribbon?

As I Understand you need to know what holds the spring/ribbon to the encoder strip on the HP 7612,

@Riddle_Decipher Thank you for the reply. I found that post,too, but neither end of the ribbon on a 7612 is attached like what is represented in the photo. The smiley faces are on the left on my printer. The right side was hooked to an "S" shape stamped into the chassis. The left side has a tab on the chassis that is bent at 90 degrees (see photo). There must be a spring clip to hold the ribbon, as the tab is much larger than the hole in the ribbon. I would like to see what the clip looks like. I would also like to know how I can buy another one, as I don't really want to tear the whole printer apart if I can help it.

And considering the differences you've mentioned I would suggest you contact HP for further assistance.
I'm afraid we don't have support to sell individual printer parts (except selected printhead & Cartridges)
hence, you could contact support and they can help you with replacing the parts or the printer.

Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
