HP Photosmart 5510 will not scan the print align page. This is obviously a known issue as there are a lot of people out there that have had the same problem. The printer is brand new and straight out the box.

Hello Blacksaltire,
May i know if there is any error message displayed on the Printer ?
You may try connecting the printer directly to a wall-outlet instread of Power Strip if any.

Jabzi

Thanks Jabzi, got there at last! going to try a test print now. Just done the test print and all is good.
Thanks for your help, but I must say that for a printer straight out of the box it's a poor show that I've had to go through all this nonsense! Thank you anyway Jabzi.

Hello,
Kindly ensure if the Alignment page has Black and Cyan colour in it.
If it does not have the alignment may not be successful.
To recover from this situation you might have to re-run the CLEAN PRINTHEAD/CARTRIDGE routine.
Also perform the below steps to check if the Scanner Module is not faulty...
- Close the Scan lid.
- While the printer is ON, unplug the power cord from back of the printer.
- Wait for 30 seconds.
- Connect the power cord directly to wall outlet ( by pass the Surge / power strip ) and then connect to printer.
- If printer does not power ON, press the ON button to do so.
- When the printer is idle, open the scan lid and check if the scan carriage is lit up and moves across the flatbed.
- If its neither lit up nor moves, then its an issue with Scanner Module and printer need to be serviced.
