This printer is no longer printing the documents that I send to it. On the test page, it only prints the printer icon in the upper right corner of the paper and the words, "Windows Printer Test Page." And, this is done in blue ink. I've attempted to download the drivers, but it states on here that the warranty expires????

Hi @Mik3y1

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how frustrating it must feel when your printer only produces partial output on the test page and refuses to print your documents.

You’ve already tried downloading drivers, so let’s go through a clear set of steps to bring your HP OfficeJet 6960 back to proper printing.

Steps to resolve printing issues

Check ink cartridges and alignment

  • Make sure all cartridges are properly seated and have sufficient ink.
  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Tools > Align Printer.
  • Run the alignment process to ensure the cartridges are calibrated.

Run a print quality diagnostic

  • From the printer’s control panel, select Setup > Reports > Print Quality Report.
  • This will show if any colors or nozzles are blocked. If streaks or missing colors appear, run the “Clean Printhead” option under Tools.

Reinstall printer drivers

  • Go to the HP OfficeJet 6960 Drivers and Software page.
  • Download the full feature software package for Windows.
  • During installation, choose the correct connection type (USB or Wireless).
  • Ignore warranty messages—drivers are available regardless of warranty status.

Use the HP App

  • Install the HP App from the Microsoft Store.
  • Add your printer through the app and run “Diagnose & Fix.”
  • This tool can automatically detect and repair printing issues.

Check Windows printer settings

  • Press Windows + I → Devices → Printers & Scanners.
  • Ensure your HP OfficeJet 6960 is set as the default printer.
  • Remove any duplicate printer entries, then re‑add the correct one.

Test with a different document

  • Try printing a simple text file to confirm if the issue is with specific applications or system‑wide.

You’ve already shown persistence by attempting driver downloads. Following these steps should bring your printer back to full functionality.
