My HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281cdw started going into a restart loop a few weeks ago. It will start up, go to an initializing screen, look like it has started up for ~30 seconds and then it will get a '79 Service Error' and then restart and do it all over again.
My printer is tied wirelessly to an Orbi mesh network which hangs off of an xfinity modem/router.
I took the following steps:
- turn off the printer
- turn off the modem/router and main orbi router (I have 3 other orbi satellites)
- wait 30 seconds
- start up the printer
- once the window shows up where I can change things, I went into Setup->Network Setup->Network Services
- I select IPv6 and click 'off'
- turn off the printer
- wait 30 seconds
- restart the modem/router and orbi router
- wait for them to become responsive
- restart the printer
...however...
The printer simply resumes it's cycle of failures.
What is the most reliable way to resolve this? Do I need to disable wireless networking altogether as well in order to help make sure it doesn't end up confused somehow?
Thanks for any pointers!

It is possible that there is a stale corrupt print job that is causing the problem. Make sure there are no print jobs pending on any workstations and then restart the printer again.

More information:
- If I get IPv6 turned off, it stays off for all future cycles.
- If I turn off wireless, the printer stabilizes and doesn't cycle with 79 Service Error anymore.
- If I plug in a network cable, or turn wireless back on (even after restarts), the 79 service error will continue and the cycle repeats until I get back to a disabled wireless and no wired connection.
Any pointers on how to get the printer back to where it was a few weeks ago when this started?

There was a workstation with a job in error from before - I cleared the print queue on that workstation.
I am still getting 79 service error cycles - IPv6 is off.
Any additional steps to help eliminate the cycle? No queues have error messages in them and IPv6 is off on the printer (and stays off). If I have any network connections (wireless enabled or wired plugged in), it gets a 79 service error. None of this was happening 2 weeks ago, nor over the previous 2 years I've had this printer.

Latest firmware (Oct 2020)
Latest drivers and software on client
All clients have had their printer removed to avoid any resend of problem messages (other than the one client)
IPv6 is off
I was able to connect the printer to the network for around a minute, but it crashed when I tried to print to it. I then disabled networking on it and it is stable. If networking is re-enabled, it gets the 79 Service Error.
Any pointers here? Following the processes outlined didn't resolve things for this printer - I'm just using USB printing now, but it would be great to have the printer work again (not sure what caused this in the first place).

I have exactly the same issue on my m281fdw (similar model) it started today and i noticed because a paper got stuck during printing. Since then i have my printer keep rebooting. I installed latest firmware update, disabled ipv6 as it was mentioned above but nothing. I identified the issue is occurring while connected to internet, i disabled intenet connection through my router so that it only says in local network and this stopped the error to keep appearing and rebooting. Don't know if relevant i have cyan toner low level (i have the replacement but it's saying to replace only when printing quality is not good). Anyone who can advice?
