HP Laser Jet P2035n
macOS 10.14 Mojave

Haven't printed addresses on envelopes since the university upgraded my Mac to Mojave.  After putting in the delivery address, it shows up where it's supposed to on the envelope and in the print preview, but then prints high.  When moving it nearly off the envelope to try and get it to print in the right spot, it doesn't show up at all or only the top line or two of the address.  Trial/Error and I found a spot so it printed pretty close to where it should, although still a little high and not where the print preview shows.

I'm on an a 27" iMac with a 3.2 GHz Intel Core i5 processor; memory is 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3.  MS Word for Mac is Version 16.16.12 (190715).  Using an HP Laser Jet P2035n and feeding the envelope down the center of the external foldout feeder.

Your paper tray settings to not match, resulting in inaccurate printing on the envelopes.  There are lots of ways you can go about configuring the printer and the application but I will share one that will give you the most control over the process.

Check the paper tray settings from the control panel of the printer.  It should be set to something like envelope #9 or #10.  Check the specifications on the envelopes that you are printing from if you are not sure what the paper size and type should be considered.

Once the printer knows what is inserted into the tray then you need to configure the printing application to match.  In your case the application is Word and you can use the Envelope wizard to assist you.  Make sure the wizard knows that you want to print on whatever setting you chose on the printer in the previous step.

It must match for an accurate print. Fire off a test job to see if you missed anything.  Should be good to go from there.

Thanks for the post.  Unfortunately, didn't work.  Some additional information (sorry, should have included if I didn't).  I'm on a 27" iMac running Mojave, version 10.14.5, and it's Word for Mac, Version 16.16.13 (190811).

I did go into the System Preferences and change the default paper size to Envelope #10, and then when going to print the envelope in Word, allowed it to use the settings from the printer.  The address still printed much too high.

While I can move the field with the address down, in order for it to be low enough, it's read as being partly out of the print area (margins) and only partially prints (and still a little too high).

Unlike the Windows world (which I work on through the military as a traditional guardsman), for the Mac I've never had to match up printers/programs with tray settings, etc. - it simply prints where it supposed to, regardless of any default settings.

I really think this is a programming glitch with this version of Word and Mojave (wasn't a problem until IT upgraded my machine to Mojave).

It sounds like that could be the problem.  Considering it worked with the same printer and software before the OS upgrade.  You could try reinstalling MS Office and see if that impacts the problem.  But if the problem is truly between Word and Mac, then its an issue that Apple and Microsoft will have to hash out for you.

One way to verify would be to try printing Envelopes from another application. Perhaps you could download and install something temporarily and see if it can communicate with the printer.  That would give you some ammunition to go back to your IT team, MS or Apple for more support.
