LaserJet Pro MFP M127fn
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Printouts consistently have blank lines down page, approximately 1.5" from left side of paper and .5" wide. We have replaced toner twice with no improvement in condition. I have updated firmware, drivers, run the "clean" setting, physically inspected and cleaned transfer roller and toner area.

At a bit of a loss at this point... I have been told the printer has done this since new but a warranty claim was never filed. I would like to not have to replace the printer if possible, as I was hoping to use the M127 to replace another dying printer.

This is what it's doing:

Best bet is to swap teh printer cartridge.  If the cartridge is defective consider contacting the reseller and see if you can get another under warranty or a rebate or discount on a new one.  Defective cartridges happen from time to time.

Hi John,

Thanks for your reply. The toner cartridge was my first thought, but I'm now on the third one with the same problem. One defective cartridge makes sense, but 3 makes me a little suspect.

The "contamination in the laser path" bit on the link you sent me makes sense too, I'll see if I can do that. There was nothing obvious when I was looking at the rollers, though.

Thanks,

Kris

I have a feeling you have a shred of paper lodged up by the laser/scanner opening. If you pull out the tonter cartridge on top is a slot which when you look down you will see a charging roller and part of the drum. It is this slot that the laser scanner aims the beam to write the image to the toner drum. Match up the slot with the upper part of the toner cartridge cavity and using a flashlight shine it up and see if you can see something is the cutout at the top of the toner cavity.
