When we print from any iphone the paper size is listed as envelope - 10 and will only print the page very small centred on normal size paper.  That size option is greyed out so that it is not possible to change.  When printing from any of our laptops or netbooks (including a mac) it is fine, printing on various sizes of paper and being able to switch them.

This is an iPhone app problem.  The iPhone needs to send print jobs to the printer in the correct paper size.  Otherwise the printer will interperet the print job the best that it can.  In your case it sounds like envelope 10 is teh closest matching paper size.

That size option is greyed out so that it is not possible to change.

Export your print job to another application and try printing from there instead.

Full print driver support is likely available on your laptops and notebooks.  Mobile devices like iPhones are not as lucky.  Consider emailing or USB transferring your iPhone documents to one of the laptops or desktops instead.

This is an iPhone app problem. - Not an app for sure.  It started on everybodys phone at the same time, even though we are on different updates, and it doesn't matter if we are trying to print something off an email, online or a photo.  It worked fine until about two weeks ago.

Export your print job to another application and try printing from there instead. - Unless I'm not understanding correctly the 'solution' is too stop trying to print things off phones?

How are you sending jobs from the iPhone to the printer?  ePrint, HP Print app, something else?

Mobile devices do not host print drivers, but print drivers are still necessary.  Print manufacturers work around this requiremy by relying on some other service to convert documents into printer language that the printer can understand first.  This is normally done by emailing print jobs as an attachment to a cloud print service like HP ePrint or by using a OS specific application like HP Print.  Or if your printer happens to provide a basic print driver on its firmware then you can sometimes get away with using the HP Direct wifi feature to send jobs direct to the printer.

Yes, one of the work arounds when mobile printing does not work is to export your jobs to a non-mobile device like a laptop or desktop where full print driver functionality is supported.  Whatever option you are using from the phone does not appear to have all of the normal driver options that your PCs do.

How are you sending jobs from the iPhone to the printer?  ePrint, HP Print app, something else?  - I'm not actually sure.  When you are on something (an email, text, pdf etc) on iphone you either have a forward icon you tap to show options (text, email, print) and you select print, or you select to forward the item and select print from the menu.  I don't know of any specific print app or program, although the printer is set up as a wireless device we can find on the network.
