Yep, tried 4 different ways.  USB, wired, wireless and via the printer update on the printer itself (see post on previous page).  :indifferent:

hi,

@Talon your Printer is defect. Use the HP Email Support.

Please tell how it went

Today I got my replacement unit and it now works just fine.

I had tried to update the firmware via USB but stood as a state "not applicable" and everything was gray.

I've also tried it in the menu under the printer web printer facilities but did not find any updates.

Now I have a new and an old one with firmware.

Sorry for my English. I am from Germany.

EDIT:

Here is a description to eliminate the problem to. It has written to me the nice gentleman from the Hp email support. If I had the updating does not work so I got a replacement unit.

Dear Mr. XXX,

Thanks for your feedback, and detailed information. Since the device does not have the latest firmware installed and it will not be renewed via the Geäteaktualisierung, please set the E710n back as follows:

NOTE: If you go to the following reset all settings stored in the HP unit lost!

Please print in advance if you have the HP device connected via network to the device, a network configuration page, so you can make the network settings after the reset.

RESET:

  - Touching on the left side of the screen the top button (house icon), the lower button (back arrow) and then 2 times the upper button (house icon) even if they currently inactive buttons (not illuminated) are
- Was this key combination is successful, the display shows the "Menu Engineering"
- Navigate Now use the scroll bar to the "Service Menu" to open and touch this
- Use the arrow keys now active to the menu item "Resets Menu" screen
- Tap OK to open this menu
- Navigate to the right again now, regarding the "semi-full reset" and press OK

NOTE:

Through this reset the electronics of the HP device is initialized and in this context, the internal memory overwritten or formatted.

Then please make the Web services, and re-start the product update on the device. Again, it should again be made no firmware update, please print a printer status report from the unit.

Scan this please and send me the report in your reply.

Yours sincerely,

@wizard Do you have a solution to update the firmware?

I'm having the same problem with both of my 6500a Plus printers (model # E710n).  Neither will update to firmware version CIP1FN1206AR.  When I run the update, both show status as "Not applicable."  The one with firmware 1110AR will not connect to web services, saying it has no connection even though it is connected wirelessly and printing and scanning wirelessly - thus it cannot be updated through the printer console.  The one with firmware 1126AR (on a different network than the other) will connect to web services but says that no firmware updates are available.  i'm running the updates via USB cable and have even uninstalled and reinstalled the software to set the 1110AR up for USB with the wireless radio turned off.  I had a copy of the older 1126AR firmware and ran it via USB.  The 1110AR printer said status Not applicable and the 1126AR printer said up-to-date.  I'm about at wit's end.

Hi Everyone,

I have tested this firmware, and does appear to have an issue with placing the check mark into the box. I am escalating this to the engineers, and will update this post as soon as I have any additional information. Thank you for reporting this issue.

Today I decided to extract the firmware file (OJ6500_E710n-z_R1206A.exe) and see if it would give me any clues.  Here is a list of files I found inside.

chianti_pp_usr_hf_CIP1FN1206AR_update_from_1023B_signed.ful  (the actual firmware file I would guess)

EnterpriseDU.exe (the program that searches for the pritner)

EnterpriseDU.ini (setting for above program)

EnterpriseDU.log (a log that is written after you run the .exe)
EnterpriseDUUI.dll (library for above .exe)

printer.ini (another setting file with no info)

Here is the inside of EnterpriseDU.ini.   I'm not a programmer so I'm not positive but I would think the ability to not select the printer has something to do with this .ini.  Hopefully someone with more knowledge on this will jump in.
