Hi I am tried to install a HP Laser Jet M 15a printer via USB cable to an imac PC (mac OS version unknown), However the driver was available when I searched for the driver from the HP website. Also this the very first time I am trying to install a printer to a PC which is running an apple OS, since I do not know how to install the same on mac.
The method of installation was;
I connected the printer via the USB cable to the imac without installing the printer driver and the mac os was able to detect the printer.
The problem I am facing is that when ever I click on the print command the job proceeds to the print queue and it's released but it won't print.
My questions are;
1. What I have done wrong?
2. Do you really need to install the printer driver to a mac PC or can you just plug and play the printer?
3. Do you have to select the USB option from the printer properties since there's only the air print option which is selected by default?

Hi @Maciek2
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Do you have an Anti-virus/firewall installed on the MAC?
If you are using a USB cable, make sure the cable is directly connected between the MAC and the printer.
The use of a USB hub is not recommended. Also, make sure the cable is connected to a USB 2.0 port on your MAC.
- Check if the printer is getting recognized by your MAC:
- From the Apple menu, choose About This Mac.
- Click System Report.
- Under the Hardware heading on the left side of the System Information window, click USB.
USB 3 devices appear under USB 3.0 Bus, and USB 2 devices appear under USB 2.0 Bus. The printer should be under the USB 2.0 Bus.
Click here to download the printer driver from the HP Support site and install it.
Try printing.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi @BK31
Welcome to the HP Support Community. To assist you better, I would like to know the macOS version you are using.
On the MAC, click on the Apple icon and go to about this mac to check the version.
HP Laser Jet Pro M15a is not AirPrint compatible and hence we will have to download and install the specific driver from the HP Support site depending on the macOS.
KEep me posted for further assistance.

Hi,
I have the same problem.
USB connection, not AirPrint.
It's MAC OS Catalina 10.15.3
There is no error message from the printer. It acts as everything is ok, except it doesn't print anything.
I tried the test page by holding printer button and it printed correctly.
