Remove the Red cartridge and examine it for left over packaging materials. If you find something then remove it and reseat the cartridge. Use the reports on the control panel as your test document, these do not require a PC or any drivers to print as they are built in and the best way to verify the printer is performing well.
If the cartridges still do not print then contact HP. New printers are delivered with HP "trainer" cartridges to ensure the product works when it is opened up. In your case the printer is not working when opened and HP should be able to assist you with the warranty. They may send you a new cartridge, parts or a new printer depending on the severity of the issue.
