Color Laserjet Pro MFP M277DW
Mac OS Mojave 10.14.5
Have latest drivers, firmware, software.
I have seen this same question marked as "solution" in another thread but that "solution" is not working (involves taking out cartridges putting them back in, unplugging and re-plugging, and sacrificing a live chicken). It's connected to my WiFi and prints just fine wirelessly from my network.
This is the third time this has happened, and it's always after a power outage or something. Usually it resolves itself but not this time. I'm trying to use the apps feature to scan but can't get it to work.
Error Message as follows:
Access Denied
The service may be busy.
Retry later.
If the problem continues, check for firmware updates.
If there's some secret sauce here, please share so I can get on with my life 🙂
TIA
Dave

@dbmorgan1, Welcome to HP Support Community!
Update the printer firmware
Download available firmware updates from the HP website
With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates.
For more information, go to Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware.
Assign manual IP to your printer
The steps on how to set a manual IP address can be found here.
For the DNS servers please use 8.8.8.8 for the Manual Preferred DNS Server and 8.8.4.4 for the Alternate DNS server. These are Google’s public DNS servers
Also, I suggest you follow the steps from this document HP Printers - Printer Control Panel Menu App Issues under the section 'There was a problem connecting to the server' error message displays.
Keep me posted for further assistance.
Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!

Thanks for your response.
I already said I've got the latest software, firmware, and drivers.
The steps for setting a manual IP address was a rabbit hole. My screen looked entirely different, so I couldn't apply the changes suggested in the YouTube video.
The "steps" from the link provided was yet another rabbit hole without any real solution.
I reset the printer to factory defaults and now it's working again. So I guess it's resolved.
