I just recently bought a laser printer. I have never used one before. It prints fine using Hp multipurpose paper. It also printed fine on a precut cardstock that had a coloured border that I tried. The issue I am having is printing on precut cardstock which is by Recollections (from Michaels). This particular card has also a boarder and splotches of colour and a gold border around the edge of the card. I believe the surface to have a finish to it. It isn't a high gloss and has no shine to it though .When I tried to print on it the toner did not adhere very well to the font in some places and I had splotches and spots all of the card. The first print-out wasn't as bad as the next two. I turned the card over to try it again. The back surface of the card feels and looks the same but it doesn't have the design on it

When you print, make sure to change the paper type from plain to Heavy Cardstock or something as thick as possible from the choices. Sometimes it's a trial and error to find the right type. This will slow the print speed down and allow the printer time to place and fuse the toner more securely. Also, the cardstock may not be specifically made for laser printers, unless it says so on the packaging or the specifications from where you got it from. If it's not made for Lasers, then it makes it harder for the toner to stick correctly, hence to make sure you choose the highest heavyweight paper type to compensate.

The card stock is not for laser printer. It is from a set of cards with envelopes that is made for you where you can add text to it. It has design around the edges. A product from Michaels craft store. I have used other similar products and it worked fine but not with this one. I will try your suggestion. Thank u

I tried putting the source of paper to heavy cardstock and putting it to 600x600 dpi it reduced the splotching and half of the top upper card the font was perfect but the bottom paragraph the toner didn't adhere very well to some of the fonts. I tried a shinny cardstock and a plain cardstock with no problems along with the first precut cards which was the first one I tried. For some reason the card I want to print on the toner just doesn't want to work perfectly ….

That is unfortunate. You could try different paper type settings beside the heavy cardstock as I've seen different types work differently on different types of paper. But, it may just come down to the card is just not going to be able to be printed on.
