I'm using a Chomebox with Google Cloud Print to print to several HP laser printers. It works fine on all of them except for the P1102W printers. On the P1102W printers, it takes about 3 to 5 minutes from the time that a page is sent to the printer until it actually starts printing. Every print job sent to a P1102W takes at least 3 minutes to start printing.
Please note that the only way to print from a Chromebox is with Cloud Print.
When I print to a P1102W printer directly from a Windows PC, either using the Wi-Fi connection or through the USB interface, the pages always start printing within a few seconds. Also, if I print to the printer using the HP ePrint service (without using Google Cloud Print), printing begins within a few seconds. Therefore, I have to conclude that there is some sort of incompatibility between the P1102W and Google Cloud Print.
I'm seen several other reports of this problem with this particular HP printer. Is there any solution? If a delay of at least 3 minutes is normal when using Google Cloud Print for this printer, it should not be considered "Google Cloud Print ready".

Just following up to close out this problem. An executive assistant to an HP VP called me about the problem. The final resolution was to send me a $200 credit toward a different HP printer. I used to credit to purchase a color HP Laserjet which works very well with cloudprint.

Hello @gpslouis,
Welcome to the HP Community. I hope you have a pleasant experience here.
I'd like to help you with the issue you are having with slow printing document when using the Google Cloud Print function with your HP LaserJet P1102w printer.
When you tested the ePrint speed, did you print the same document you attempted to print when testing the Google Cloud Print? The reason I ask is that some larger PDF files may take longer to process at the ePrint and Cloud Print servers, which could be causing the delay.
If you have already tested using the same document, I'd suggest making sure you have the most recent firmware update for the P1102w. You can download the firmware update utility here - HP LaserJet P1102w Firmware Update Utility
NOTE: You'll want to make sure that the printer is USB connected before running the update, any interruption during the update can cause serious issues with the printer.
You can also try removing the printer from your Google Cloud Print account and re-adding it. Here are the steps to do so:
- Open the Google Chrome Browser on your computer.
- Make sure your Gmail account is logged in.
- Go to www.google.com/cloudprint.
- On the left hand side, select Printers.
- Click on your HP P1102w and select Delete at the top.
- On the left hand side, select Add a Cloud Ready Printer.
- Select HP from the list of manufacturers.
- Below the picture of the printer, under Setup Instructions, select the 2.Click here link.
- Type in your printer's ePrint e-mail address, and click Connect.
- Retry the print job using the Google Cloud Print service.
Please respond to let me know if this worked for you.
Have a great day.

The documents that I am printing are very small. The contain just a few words for test purposes.
The problem that I'm describing is widely reported elsewhere on the HP support site. HP refuses to fix the problems.
The firmware is up to date.
As I stated in my original post, the problem occurs only with this particular printer. Other HP printers work fine with ePrint and Google Cloud Print.
FYI -- I've been a programmer, etc. for over 35 years. There is nothing that a user can do to fix this problem. HP needs to step up and fix it, but they won't.

Hello @gpslouis,
I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post serial numbers and case details.
Thanks for posting in the HP Forums.

Here is another thread that discusses the slow printing problem with the P1102W when using Google Cloud Print.

Same here, printing using Google Cloud Print and Android HP ePrint are extrememly SLOW. Usually, it takes about 4-5 minutes to print a 10kb PDF page on Google Cloud Print and Android HP ePrint, while it prints very quickly on iOS AirPrint (after changing the Bonjour Name).
Although I manage to fix the delay on iOS by changing the Bonjour Name of the Printer, it seems HP has not step up to fix this frustrating issue. I fail to understand why printing using PrinterShare (Android) is so much faster than HP ePrint.
