How are you connecting, USB or Network? Is the firmware on your printer up to date?

Just to confirm, is your firmware up to date. Print a configuration page and confirm what date code is showing. HP has made many improvements to this model and they are only applied if you have the current firmware installed. Date code for current is 20190113. If this is not what shows on your configuration page then you need to update. First step in resolving this problem.

In the energy settings page you can check to see what events are set to wakeup the unit. It is actually possible to set it so that no events wake the printer which then requires you to restart the printer to get it to work. If you are connecting USB make sure usb events and control panel are set as valid events to wake the printer. If all these settings are correct then my next step would be to NVRAM reset the unit, check YouTube for videos that show how that is done.
