I recently bout a HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 4515. Prints OK, but have had much problem with scanning and copying. WHen doing so, the scanner/copier hangs-up. I used to be able to fix the problem by enbling scan to computer. But even that has stopped working. I notice that the "scantoPCActivationApp" remains "Scan to computer disabled" whatever I do.
I have reloaded the software to no avail. I have used the dr diagnostic - but it hangs up as well, when it does a scan.

Good news! Technician arrived today. It isn't a software problem - but a hardware problem, which now seems to be fixed.

Hey @3C21,
Welcome to the HP Support Forum. I understand you're having an issue with scanning to computer using your HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 4515 e-All-in-One Printer. I would like to assist you with this.
Are you able you make a regular copy from standalone (from the printer's front panel) without issue? If yes, I am presuming the issue is software oriented.
I recommend you click here to run Microsoft Fix it, a free utility designed to automatically resolve printer issues. It will likely result in a very thorough uninstalling of your printer (goes beyond what you've tried with the HP Print and Scan Doctor).
Once that step is competed, click here to install your printer again. If the scan error persists, click here for further troubleshooting steps in an article from HP.
Let me know how this works out for you and make sure to mention any error messages where applicable.
I hope this helps - best of luck! 🙂
