My son pulled out the paper tray on the HP Envy 4520 and when he closed it, code reads close tray. Upon inspection I found a small tab broken off from back of tray. I'm guessing this is some sort of locking or sensor tab. There are two tabs. Only one broke off. I am trying to glue but not hopefull it will hold. Any advice on how to override code or repair

Hey there! @ssnyds, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!
Don't worry I'd like to help you out.
Did you make any changes to your printer?
Was there any accidental dames to the printer
I have checked the specifications of the printer and you cannot remove the paper tray or the photo tray from the printer as they are fixed.
However, you can try the steps recommended below and check if it helps.
Clean the paper tray roller underneath the printer.
Carefully lift the printer and set it on its side.
While supporting the printer with one hand, pull the paper tray open to expose the paper roller underneath the printer.
Lightly dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled water, and then squeeze any excess liquid from the cloth.
Press the cloth against the roller inside the printer, and then rotate the roller upwards with your fingers. Apply a moderate amount of pressure to remove any dust or dirt buildup.
Allow the roller to dry completely (approximately 10 minutes).
Close the paper tray, and then set the printer upright.
Try to print.
If the issue still persists after trying out the steps. It is a hardware issue with the printer.

HP does not make spare parts available for these printers. As the other poster stated the tray does not come out, more correctly is not supposed to come out. Your best option is to try Ebay or websites that sell used parts.
If you have the clearance for a more aggressive repair we have had great success using plastic weld epoxies like JB Weld. Be sure to roughen the surface to improve bonding.
