Hi there!
I needed to get a new router, since the old one stopped working, and now my HP printer doesn't accept the WPA password anymore.
I have recreated all the same settings to the new router that I had in the old one, and all devices connected automatically to the network without a problem, except the printer.
I have disabled the IPv6 in the printer, I have different SSID's for the 2,4GHz and 5Ghz connections (and different passwords, too) but the printer just can't verify the password.
In the diagnostics page printed says that wireless connection is on - accepted, wireless network is in use - accepted, SSID has been found - accepted, but then Protection - not accepted. This is the error message in the troubleshooting section:
"Wireless router requires a WPA-protection password. The password entered in HP printer doesn't meet the requirements specifically. Enter the WPA-protection password of the wireless network by running the wireless network installation."
And next:
"HP printers WPA authentication method has been changed from default settings. This can cause problems when connecting to a wireless network, if the wireless router isn't using the same WPA authentication method."
(These quotes are translated from Finnish in the test report, so some of the terms might be different if the printer language was English.)
So I have no idea what this "changed from default settings" means, since I haven't changed any settings in the printer itself except turning off the IPv6 setting (that did nothing before or after).
EDIT: If it helps, the router is Zyxel VMG1312-B10D.
Thanks in advance for the input if anyone has a solution! I've tried pretty much everything I found from the community and from the help pages.
Best regards,
Sari

Welcome to HP support community.
Restore the factory-set defaults on the printer
1. On the product control panel, touch the Setup button.
2. Scroll to and touch the Service menu.
3. Scroll to and touch the Restore Defaults button, and then touch the OK button. The product automatically
restarts.
(Note: : Restoring the factory-set defaults returns all of the product and network settings to the factory defaults, and it also clears the fax header name, phone number, and any stored faxes in the product memory. This procedure also clears the fax phone book, and deletes any pages that are stored in the memory.)
Update the printer firmware
Refer this HP document for the steps to update firmware:- Click here
Connect the printer to a wireless network using the Wireless Setup Wizard
- From the Home screen, touch the Wireless button.
- Touch the Wireless Menu button, and then touch the Wireless Setup Wizard button.
- The product scans for available wireless networks and returns a list of network names (SSIDs). Select the SSID for your wireless router from the list if it is available. If the SSID for your wireless router is not in the list, touch the Enter SSID button. When prompted for the type of network security, select the option that your wireless router uses. A keypad opens on the control panel display.
- If your wireless router uses WPA security, type the passphrase on the keypad.
- Touch the OK button, and wait while the product establishes a connection with the wireless router. Establishing the wireless connection can take a few minutes.
Let me know if that helps.

Hi @Sandytechy20,
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I think I was a bit unclear; I really have tried everything.
I have done a factory reset several times and there's no firmware update available for my printer.
edit: And I have run the wireless wizard countless times and nothing happens.
Printer just doesn't accept the WPA password.
Any other ideas?
Thanks in advance!
Best regards,
Sari
