Connect the printer to a computer with a USB cable. If the computer beeps and proceeds to install this is a good thing as this means that the USB communications are still working. At this point use the easy firmware update tool and direct it to send the update to the printer. If the update does not start right away, go to the printer properties and select a different USB port until you find the one that is communicating with the printer. The update will start at that point and be applied.
