I had the same problem and fixed it. I had to open up the printer and remove one of the cables, but now everything is working great. I wrote a full walkthrough with pictures on my blog. Please check it out. I really hope this works for everyone that is having the same problems. I was so angry about this!!!

Do any lights come on on the 7410? Does the LCD light up?  Are there any error messages?  If there are no lights on then check the power supply is plugged securely into the 7410 and also that the power cord is properly attached to a live outlet.  If you have a voltmeter check and make sure you are getting 32V from the power supply.

If the power LED does light I would start by unplugging the 7410 from the power supply for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in.

I am also having problems with my 7410 All-in-One. The unit is powered up- the lights are on- the screen is lit up, however it is not booting up. The screen says hp invent and there is a grey/white line that continues to flicker, however I believe this is supposed to complete and then boot up the printer. I cannot find my User's Manual and was hoping that someone could tell me how to reboot the unit. Several times, I have tried unplugging the unit and waiting for several minutes and then replugging it back in, however it cannot seem to move past the start-up screen. Any help that anyone can offer if much appreciated as we are now without a fax/printer and we are heavy daily users. Thanks.

Clarification from my last email! None of the lights on the unit are lit up. Only the screen is lit up. Thanks

May be you can try to perform partial reset by :

  1. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product, and then wait for 20 seconds.
  2. Press and hold # and 3 on the product control panel while connecting the power cord to the back of the product.
  3. Release the buttons when the product turns on. The reset is complete.
Although I work for HP, my posts and replies are my own opinion and not those of HP.

The partial reset didn't work with my 7410. Is there a "full" reset? I get the HP invent startup screen for about 20 seconds and then the screen goes blank for 5 seconds and then repeats - it never boots up.

Thanks

I am having the exact same problem with my 7410, except ours is setup on a wireless network.  Did you find a solution?

Hi, Problem could not be solved yet. HP support did lead through reset activities, including advice to lift the printer and let it drop to the table again. Maybe now a hammer would be the tool to use.
We also changed power supply to ensure we have enough V and A.
Add'nal info: The ink cartridge holder is not in standby but working position ...

Thanks for the reply.  In the meantime, I contacted HP support.  They had me check that I was receiving power.  They have steps on their website to follow.  I'm sure yoou've done this.  They said to check the ADF cable.  I do not have one.  Third, to try powering up without the USB cable plugged in.  I have an ethernet cable, but tried it.  I still can not power up.  They said it is probably a hardware malfunction.  I can repair or replace.  If you replace with another Hp, an upgrade discount may be an option.  Something to keep in mind
