I have been reviewing this information and am confused. I also purchased this printer for the duplexing. Yes I can get it to duplex for printing - but not for copies and scaning. I have an older HP printer where I can accomplish this with no problem. How do I duplex for COPY AND SCAN 2 sided to 2 sided?

Hello Again,
Here are the steps to manually copy duplex.....Good Luck!
Copy two-sided documents manually
1.
On the product control panel, press the Copy
Menu
button.
2.
Use the arrow buttons to select the Multi-
Page Copy
item, and then press the OK
button.
3.
Use the arrow buttons to select the On
option, and then press the
OK button to save
the selection.
NOTE:
The factory-set default for
automatic copy collation is
On.
4.
Load the first page of the document on the
flatbed scanner.
5.
Press the Start Copy button.
6.
Remove the printed page from the output
bin, and then place that page in Tray 1 with
the top edge leading into the product and
with the printed side facing down.
7.
Remove the first page, and then load the
second page onto the flatbed scanner.
8.
Press the OK button, and then repeat the
process until all of the pages in the original
have been copied.
9.
When the copy job is completed, press the
Start Copy
button to return the product
to Ready mode.

I'm having the same problem (unable to automatically produce two-sided copies using two-sided original with the document feeder). The solutions offered in this forum do not solve this problem.
According to my HP manual, the 1536dnf MFP is supposed to offer the ability to automatically copy two-sided documents by using the document feeder. Following the instructions in the manual results in only one sided printing of the first scanned side. The printer does not automatically scan side #2 and, obviously, does not print on the 2nd side. I've tried a few different combinations, i.e. manually refeeding the document for side #2 and still got unacceptable results: the output document has printing on only one side.
Using a manual process is really not duplex operation. Any copier can produce two-sided printing if you manually rescan and refeed the documents.
I've yet to find a solution to this problem. I'm running the latest firmware with Windows 7 and using a network connected printer. I'm talking only about automatic duplex copying--not printing of documents from my computer.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Tnhiker865,
Thanks for the post. Try these steps below for two sided, also when doing a two sided copy through the adf, on the control panel of the printer, in the copy menu, be sure to select the two sided copying feature. Two sided original to two sided copy. Good Luck!
- In the software program, click File and then click Print .
- Select your product, and then click the Properties or the Preferences tab.
- Click the Finishing tab.
- Select Print On Both Sides .
- Click OK to print.
