Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

have downloaded the driver for HP Laserjet P1005 ( ljP1000_P1500-HB-pnp-win64-en) but it fails to install on my PC. I am using a Win 10 .

Try running the installation "as Admin".  Right click the downloaded .exe file and choose Run As Admin so that it extracts correctly to your machine.  Do the same for the setup.exe once the extraction is done if the setup does not automatically start from there.

Thanks for the reply; the problem is more complicated; I have done this before but did not work.

You need to make sure the files are extracting correctly before attempting to install.

Try downloading the software on a 2nd PC.  Once the download is complete the extraction process should kick off.  Let the extraction complete and then double check where the files were extracted to.  HP normally tries to dump the files somewhere near the root of the C:\ under the HP or the printer model number.  Once you find the folder with the extracted files you can copy them to a USB drive and manually transfer them over to the first PC.

Once the files are transferred to the first PC you can attempt to run the setup.exe "As Admin" again and see if you can make any more progress.
