laserjet pro m402
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

since recently upgrading the firmware users are getting sporadic error 79 and the printer shuts down. I'd like to roll back the firmware to a previous version. Is that possible on this model? How?

I've located the files that I think I need.  Logon to the ftp.hp.com FTP site (anonymous login and email as password). I did a search in the /pub directory. Here is a list of the files I found:

It is possible if you can locate the older firmware.

I guess that's what I'd like to know, how would i find that and how do I apply it?  The upgrade is done either directly on the printer with an online download or via a utility.  I haven't been able to find a simple file or utility to go back.

I just tested with one of our printers and was able to downgrade from 2019 firmware to a 2018 firmware using the firmware upgrade utility.

Cool. Is there any documentation on that? How were you able to do it?

Thanks!

Nothing special, just ran the older firmware update utility, selected my printer and ran the update/downgrade. You of course have to have the older update available. We archive most updates so I usually have them available.
