I wish to give away my Photosmart 5520 printer and want to make suret there are no documents held in the memory store. How do I erase the memory?

Once you switch the printer off there is no memory of jobs done.This machine does not have a hard drive to keep records.Hope this helps.

You find the memory on the printer, extract it if possible and then sanitize the memory with a hammer. That or a drill press and make swiss cheese out of it. Thats the only way you can be sure the memory is clean.
Inkjet printers such as your photosmart do not come with teh enterprise level memory clearing tasks that the laserjet products do. If you had a laserjet you could send commands to NVRAM Reset and have some more confidence that the memory is not recoverable. But if there is any doubt the best precaution you can do is remove and destroy the memory. Its likely your photosmart has teh memory built in so your best bet is to just trash teh whole printer rather than go through the process to swap the formatter board.

Hello PJ,
Do a factory reset from the front control panel. On my 5660, I would click Setup > Maintainence > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults. It will give a couple of items that can be removed. Otherwise, there should be no memory of documents.
