The pickup rollers are likely worn down or slipping as they attempt to feed paper into the printer.

Locate the pickup roller for the tray you are attempting to print from.  Wipe it down with a damp lint free cloth and try again.  If cleaning the roller does not work then you will have to replace the roller with a roller kit.

Gosh thats very throughough!!! thank you

Well... I feel very silly as I thought that the paper input tray was on the top (how silly do I feel!?)

Ill check when I go back to work on thursday but it would appear that Ive been puting the papre in the wrong place

The paper tray on top of the printer is the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) and is only used for scanning.  The paper input tray on the bottom is for printing.

Hopefully the problem is a simple misunderstanding and is resolved.  If so then please check back on the thread to award Kudos and mark one of the responses as a solution.  Someone else may attempt to do the same thing and benefit from our conversation.  Kudos and Solutions elevate this thread above the others of a similar description.
