LaserJet Pro M130nw
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I just bought a new LaserJet Pro M130nw and i got problem when connecting the printer to my home network.

Initially, without chaning any setting in printer, I connected the printer with the hardwire to the network switch and actually I was using the same cable to connect my old HP CP1025nw and i worked fine before.

However, for the new printer, i found the printer IP is 169.254.x.x instead of 192.168.0.x. My understanding is it means the printer cannot connect to the DHCP to obtain the IP. And the result of course is all my laptop cannot connect to the printer.

It is the same even i manually assign 192.168.0.x to the printer.

I tried my scenarios and found that the printer can work with a proper in the following 2 settings:

1) I connect the printer direct to the router (which is also served as DHCP) or

2) I configure the Link Speed in the printer to 10TX-Full instead of Automatic. I also tried 100Tx-Full which is also not ok

That is

Case 1) Netgear R6250 router <---> printer

Case 2) Netgear R6250 <----> Netgear 16 ports Prosafe Giga switch <---10Tx-Full speed---> printer

Anyone know why I need to set to 10Tx-Full in case 2)??

Thank you for joining HP Forums.

This is a great place to get support, find answers to your technical queries.

Restore the factory-set defaults

1. On the printer control panel, open the Setup menu.

2. Open the Service menu.

3. Select Restore Defaults. The printer automatically restarts.

Then try connecting the printer to the network. Click on this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/product/hp-laserjet-pro-mfp-m130-series/9365370/model/9365372/document/... for Wireless Printer Setup.

Keep me posted, how it goes! However, we'll try and follow up in next 24 to 48 hours to doublecheck on the issue.

Wireless printing works. However, my printer is placed quite far away from the router that wired connection is the target solution.

I also tried to restore to factory default but the problem is still there.

I also tried to replace the power supply of the switch in case it becomes old and current not stable. However, the problem is not resolved.

I am planning to borrow another switch to test again.
