About a week ag my LaserJet P1102w, which I've had for several years, started to act unpredictably. So I removed it in Windows 10 settings then reinstalled it. Now it is unusable and in settings there is a notation the "Attention Required". After trying some trouble shooting it seems there is an indication from HP that my toner cartridges is incompatible. It's true that the cartridge is a "NON HP cartridge" but it has been in the printer for over 6 months and worked 100 % effectively with no problems. How can I get rid of this "Attention Required" condition. BTW I have gone out and purchased a brand new compatible cartridge and replace the one explained above and still get the same "Attention Required" condition.

Please remove the cartridges and perform a printer reset
(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.
(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed
Update the Firmware from this Link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-laserjet-pro-p1102-printer-series/4110394/model/... and put back the cartridges
Keep me posted how it goes 😊

First of all thanks for your help.
I have followed your instructions to the letter with one exception I am not able to plug the AC cord directly into a wall outlet. It must go to a power strip. That arrangement has been the case for years.
In following your instructions everything went well until the firmware update when I encounter this error message.....
I don't understand this since as you can see in the image below the printer is clearly on the system??? ANy additional help will be greatly appreciated.

Try uninstalling the printer driver from root level and download the full feature software again
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
6.) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the “Drivers” tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Restart the computer and download the Full Feature Software from Here and follow the onscreen Instructions

I tried your suggestion with the exception of I can't find the printer in "Programs and Features"? Otherwise I did the steps as suggested along with downloading the new driver package. I shutdown the system brought it back up and the printer still shows "Attention Required" in settings display. I am convinced that HP has buried something in their driver software recently that totally prevents non HP toner cartridges from being used in their printers.
If you have any other suggestions I welcome them. Thanks for your reply. much appreciated

I understand your concerns but unfortunately you will need to replace the cartridges with Genuine HP Ink to continue printing
