This unit is hard-wired to the router but consistently shows offline when there is nothing that I can see wrong with the network. This Color Laserjet Printer should be one of the best around and consistently shows offline status.
I have not been able to resolve it. What can I do?

This is a common issue with Windows 10 and is related to the way that Windows configures communication if you simply use the install routine or allow windows to auto detect. On your PC go to control panel>devices and printers and right click on the icon for your printer and select printer properties from the dropdown menu. Then click the ports tab and see what type of port is checked. If the driver is using a WSD port this is the cause of your problem. You want to change the port to a Standard TCP/IP port. Click new port, new port type and select Standard TCP/IP port and then enter the IP address of the printer when prompted. When you are finished, right click on the printer and select "use as default", even if it is already checked. Windows will then warn that doing this will stop windows print management from working. That is exactly what we want to do so it does not change this back again on you.
