One of my users' M225DN printers suddenly has a password on it, and the user did not set it. I need to clear the password so that I can manage the network configuration. I see from some other threads that private instructions need to be sent to do this. (I have tried all of the public instructions I can find.) Can I get these instructions sent to me?
Thanks.

Resetting the administrator password usually requires sending a Cold Reset request to the printer.
Here is a post that provides the steps:
Cold reset for HP LaserJet Pro M225dn:
- Press and hold Power On button until the printer shut down.
- Press Cancel button and Left arrow and hold down and then press Power On button.
- Hold until "Permanent Storage Init" message appears. (This takes about 10 secs)

Thanks, I will try these steps. I am no longer at that facility but should be within a few days.
I have had two separate M225 printers suddenly show an admin password being set, with no users acknowledging having done anything. Is this something to be concerned about?

Depends if you suspect foul play or not. Admin passwords do not configure themselves so something has to be responsible for setting it in the first place. I havent heard of firmware updates applying admin passwords on thier own so I would suspect either a user is running around and doing this, a tech hired to support the printers as a best practice or some kind of print management software like HPs WebJet Admin which may be controlled by another team for reporting and general administration of the printers.
Ask the users in this area and see if you can find any clues. Sometimes just by asking you can spook someone from poking around in areas like this. If you are really concerned then configure your own admin password on teh machine so that other users and apps cannot tamper with this feature without you or your teams knowledge. You can then start to lock down which features require passwords or additional logon credentials from there.
