I've followed steps to reinstall including rebooting the network and removing and reinstalling printer drivers. Is this a known limitation?  Documents are not large but not text - parcel maps and county permits.

@VanMullally, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Before we proceed, I need more information to help you better.

Do you have any antivirus software installed on your Mac?
Could you check for WiFi interference and also perform a ping test using the Mac Network Utility and let me know the results.

Use the printer IP address to perform a ping test, the printer IP can be located by touching the wireless icon on the printer display.

Keep me posted.

Thanks for your interest in helping.  No anti-virus is installed or running.  Ping response time was between 3 and 18 ms.  During earlier troubleshooting all household streaming was stopped.  I implemented an acceptable workaround of using a USB drive to transfer docs between my MacBook Pro and the printer until a solution is developed - documents printed quickly.

Restoring network defaults, reconfiguring the printer on the network and adding the printer back would help us resolve the issue.

You can follow the steps below to restore the settings-

Step 1: From the Home screen on the printer control panel, swipe until the Setup menu displays. Touch the Setup icon to open the menu.

Step 2: Open the following menus:

Service

Restore Defaults

Step 3: Touch or press the OK button.

The printer automatically restarts.

Once the printer is back on, use the Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer to connect it to your wireless network.

  1. From the home screen on the printer control panel, swipe the display to the left, and then touch Setup.

  2. Swipe up on the display, touch Network Setup, touch Wireless Menu and then touch Wireless Setup Wizard.

The printer searches for available wireless networks.

  3. Touch the name of your network, and then follow the instructions on the control panel to connect the printer to your wireless network.

After the printer connects to the network, the wireless light is on and steady.

You can remove and add the printer on your MacBook Pro-

Step 1: Remove the printer

Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Printers & Scanners.

Select the printer in the list, then click the Remove button

Step 2: Add the printer

Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Printers & Scanners

Select the printer in the list, then click the Add button   , then click Default.

Try printing and see if it helps.

Keep me posted.

Hello there - all those actions were previously done performed in that order and did not resolve the issue.  Thanks though!

Appreciate your time and patience.

HP regularly releases new printer firmware versions with product enhancements or issue fixes.

I would suggest you update the firmware using this link.

In case the problem persists then let us assign a static IP address for your printer. The following steps will help:

• Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.

• Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.

• Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.

• Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)

• Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.

• Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)

Keep me posted.

Whew, that set of instructions did not seem to match my printer screen or the IP configuration screen.  I attempted to scale back my network protocols on the IP address tab but it got to a certain point and hung up.  Here is the system log in case helpful.  The first 4 lines are a successful print of page with just 'test' whereas the rest are from one of the offending more complex documents:

I will just use the USB workaround for now.

I wanted to add that there were no firmware updates available and emailing the document to the hpeprint address produced no results.  Thank you!
