I've had my laserjet for 2 years now. I use it to copy and print homeschool materials, so I use the ADF almost exclusiely. It's been awesome until about two weeks ago, it started to print a verticle line down the page when pringing through ADF only (tested the flat bed, no line). I cleaned the whole printer (which I keep covered with a fitted fabric cover when not in use), taking special care of the rollers and the glass window. I tried playing with the scan setting (contrast, lightness, etc), which lighted the line for a few copies, but it came back. ?????
I can ever so possibly - maybe - see a "scratch" or small line on the glass window in the spot where the line appears on the copied page, but I also see other possible "scratches" in other areas of the glass which do no produce lines on the page.
Of course, my product is no longer under warranty and paying to have it looked at is not an option. Is there a way I can remove the glass window myself to try and blow or vacuum any dust out from under the glass?

I would like to give you some idea to try and solve the problem. If you scan through the ADF it only uses a small slit glass for the scan. The glass can be removed by undoing some screws and to lift it up.Some slit glasses have a Plastic sheet covering the glass that also might cause the problem if it is scratched or dirty.
You did a good observation to the problem area so let see if we can find a way to rectify the problem.
I have used Brasso metal polish before with great results to polish the glass. It might take a bit or time to polish the glass
but it should make the differance. The best would be to replace the glass but might not be available ( You will have to contact HP for this as a part)
Try to polish the glass and see if this will solve the problem.
Hope this will help.
It is so nice to give some help where possible and the forum is a great idea Thank You.Sometimes a picture speaks louder than words to find a solution.Should you find my help use full just give some credit for my effort please.
