LaserJet M607
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Just recently in last three days I have had an issue with just my LaserJet M607 systems on our network, attached via a Windows Printserver.  Sometimes will print and sometimes will not print.  Most of the time looks like everything is fine, the staff sends their print job, everything seemed normal - but when they go to the printer there is nothing there.  If I look at the job log there is nothing there.  Sometimes they can send the job again and it prints, sometimes not.  This just started and it is only with one printer model - my other printers are working just fine.  These printers, M607s, have been working just fine up until now.

I have checked everything on the printserver, I have checked everything on the printers - I have updated firmware, I have made sure have the latest driver, I have restarted servers, printers - reseated cables on the printers.  Nothing is showing as to why this is happening.  Most of the programs, ie  printing from a web program, office printing; windows are not popping up any errors but either the program just hangs up for a while or printing just doesn't happen.   I can't narrow down if it is a printer issue or possibly windows issue (happens with Win7 and Win10).   Also note seems to be more Office products and website printing that is the problem.  We have a core system that doesn't seem to have a problem.

Anyone have suggestions or had this strange thing happen?  Thank you

Try printing direct to the printer without going through the print server.  That will isolate the problem to the print server or not.

If your network printers are behind a firewall or VLAN then temporarily install a printer outside and conduct the same test to verify where the problem is.

Another idea is to pause the print queue on teh print server and have someone send a print job.  Watch the queue and see if the document shows up or not.  Sometimes a job will appear with 0kb data behind it. These are discarded as empty jobs and may be happening in your situation too.  If that is the case there is a driver conflict that must be resolved between the printing apps and the print server.
