No error message but it just does not print.  I appears to have connected by WiFi and is shown as my default printer.

Hi @Rennus,

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand your Mac shows the printer as connected via Wi-Fi and set as default, but it won’t print and shows no error messages. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check the printer status
Open System Settings > Printers & Scanners and make sure the printer shows as Idle or Ready. If it shows “Offline” or “Paused,” select the printer and click Resume.

Clear the print queue
Sometimes stuck print jobs prevent new jobs from printing. Open the printer queue from Printers & Scanners, cancel all pending jobs, and try printing a simple test page.

Restart devices
Turn off the printer, wait 30–60 seconds, then turn it back on. Restart your Mac as well. This can clear temporary communication issues.

Check Wi-Fi network
Confirm your Mac and printer are on the same Wi-Fi network. Even if the printer appears connected, being on a different network or band (2.4GHz vs 5GHz) can prevent printing.

Re-add the printer
Remove the printer from Printers & Scanners, then click Add Printer and select it again. This refreshes the Mac’s connection to the printer.

Update software and drivers
Make sure macOS is up to date. Use HP Smart or HP’s website to check for the latest driver or printer software for your printer model.

Test with another app
Try printing from a different application (e.g., Safari or Notes) to rule out an app-specific issue.

I hope this helps.
