HP Envy 6458E, Windows 11

My printer status in HP Smart is good.

When I try and print from the App or from MS Word I get an error message "Waiting for printer connection"

HP Support Assistant App is not "Unavailable"

We appreciate the opportunity to assist you and are glad we could help work toward a resolution. We hope our support has been valuable.

 

To help us get started on resolving your issue, could you please try a few troubleshooting steps provided below so that I can assist you further?

 

Run “Diagnose & Fix” in HP Smart

  • Open the HP Smart app.
  • Select your printer.
  • Click Diagnose & Fix (or troubleshoot in older versions).
  • Allow the tool to automatically detect and resolve connection issues.

Clear Stuck Print Queue 

  • In Windows 11, search for Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your printer HP Envy 6458e.
  • Click Open print queue.
  • From the top menu, select Printer > Cancel All Documents.

Restart Print Spooler Service

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Scroll to Print Spooler.
  • Right-click and select Restart.

Remove and Re-add the Printer

  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select the printer and click Remove.
  • Click Add Device to reinstall and set it up again.

Perform a Network Power Cycle

  • Turn off the printer and computer.
  • Unplug the router for 30 seconds, then reconnect it.
  • Once the network is stable, turn on the printer and computer.
