HP LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I upgraded the firmware of my laserjet printer to the latest version (20190401) from a 2012 version, but it starts to have all kinds of problems. Could you please help me downgrade my firmware to the 2012 version? I would highly appreciate it.

Product Name: HP LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw

Current Firmware version: 20190401

Thanks!

Hi @davidpan

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

What is the issue with the printer?

The older firmware is not available any more on the HP Support site. We do not have an option to downgrade.

We may try resetting the printer to its factory settings that may help.

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
  • In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thank you

The latest firmware works, but when the printer sleeps for a while, say a few hours, the touchscreen becomes sluggish, even unresponsive if we wait for a day or so. Printing also becomes extremely slow when this happens. The issue is always reproducible whenever the printer has been in sleep mode for a few hours. I would have to reboot the printer to continue to operate the printer.

I appreciate the instructions to reset the printer to factory settings, but as this issue seems to be a firmware defect rather than a wrong setting, I am afraid that this issue won't be fixed by resetting the printer to the factory configurations. If it is impossible to revert back to earlier versions of firmware, would it be possible for HP to release a new firmware version to fix the issue? I am sure this issue affects all LaserJet Pro 200 M276nw customers.

The printer is an essential equipment for us, and your timely support on this issue would be sincerely appreciated.

I have the same printer (LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw) and same problem.  I finally (foolishly) allowed the printer to upgrade its firmware to 20190401.  Since then, it becomes sluggish and stops working after a day or so.  A power cycle resolves it temporarily.  There are no errors on the touchscreen.
It had been working for years without this problem; no other changes were made to network or clients.
