The original problem is that the printer kept losing network connectivity and seldom successfully printed a configuration page. After working on and returning the printer, the blue wireless light is solid but the printer is still not responding via network communication. Though, NSLOOKUP does recognize the printer. Neither the hostname or IP address will result in a successful ping. When attempting to print a configuration page to confirm the hostname, the printer will print just the top of the page and then the error light will blink. Reseating the ink or restarting the printer or just opening and closing the lid will remove this error light. However, upon a second attempt (and any further attempts before removing the power and power cycling the printer) to print the configuration page, the printer simply crashes and has to be turned back on. If you turn the printer back on then it will appear that the printer is behaving as desired, only to still not receive ping or print requests and continue to crash when attempting to print a configuration page. The printer does have a genuine HP Ink cartridge.

Current things done: Used a windows machine to reset the printer to factory settings, connect it to the wireless network and update the firmware. Attempting to print configuration is done by holding down the X button on the printer.

The 1102 likely does not have wake on LAN functionality built into it.  You need to press the power button to wake up the printer after its inactivity timer expires.  There are many low end laserjet models that behave this way.  My own included.

Once you wake up teh printer it takes a while before it can communicate with the network or physically print something.  I usually give it a few minutes and then hit it with a PING or try to access the embedded web server.  If I can then I send the print job through.  Works every time.

If the printer is fully booted and chatting on the network but still not printing a configuration page then it may be toast.  I would check firmware and update if possible.  If not then consider replaceing this printer or calling in any existing warranty you may have on it with HP.
