Hi @jowjr58

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how unsettling it feels when the power button keeps blinking and the printer refuses to respond.

You’ve already taken the right step by noticing the exact behavior, so let’s carefully go through what this means and how to bring your HP DeskJet Go 4100e back to normal operation.

Check for error messages

  • Look at the printer’s display or open the HP App on your computer or mobile device.
  • The blinking power light usually pairs with an alert or message that explains what the printer needs.

Inspect for paper jams

  • Open the input and output trays.
  • Remove all paper, re‑stack it neatly, and adjust the paper guide so it sits flush against the stack.
  • Check inside the cartridge access area for any jammed sheets.

Check cartridge access door

  • Make sure the cartridge door is fully closed.
  • If the door is even slightly open, the printer will blink and not allow printing.

Reseat cartridges

  • Open the cartridge access area.
  • Remove both cartridges and reinsert them firmly until they click into place.
  • Ensure no protective tape remains on the cartridges.

Power reset

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cable from both the printer and wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect and power on. This clears temporary states that may cause the blinking.

Check wireless connection

  • If the printer is trying to connect to Wi‑Fi, the blinking may indicate setup mode.
  • On the printer, press and hold the Wireless button until the light blinks, then reconnect using the HP App.

By checking for jams, reseating cartridges, ensuring doors are closed, and refreshing the connection, the blinking power light should clear and the printer will return to ready mode.

You are very welcome @jowjr58

That’s wonderful to hear—it’s often the simplest things like a cartridge door being just slightly ajar that can cause the printer to lock itself down. I’m glad closing it properly brought your DeskJet Go 4100e back to life.

It’s always satisfying when the blinking light clears and the printer settles into ready mode again. If you ever notice similar behavior in the future, checking doors, trays, and cartridge seating is a quick way to restore normal operation.
