Hi,

I'm using a HP4700 when printing or duplex printing the  white  paper is covered in an overall background grey colour under the print.

It looks like surplus toner is not being removed from the transfer sheet.

Transfer unit 100%.

I've changed the black toner cartridge with no change to the print quality.

I've run calibrate and cleaning program.

Any help will be appreciated.

Best wishes,

SeeAll

You can run the Half-way test to isolate a problem to the fuser or laser printing area:

If the problem is in the laser area then I would look at the image transfer belt next.

Run the print quality pages and post them here.

I've run the half-way test everything's fine, but just before closing the transfer belt assembly I noticed, what appears to be a film of black toner on the transfer belt.  I wiped the belt.  After printing four sheets the problem has reappeared, and a film of black only toner is on the transfer belt.

The image transfer belt still shows 100%

Any thoughts?

Hi,

please find attach print quality pages, and a sample page showing the greyed background.

I can't see anything  wrong in you posted pictures except for the first one covered in an overall background grey colour just as you've said.

But the Diagnostics Pages seem fine.

Did you ever try different kind of paper to rule out the paper's issue.

And another diagnostic way is to get into diagnostic menu from panel to disable cartridge check and exchange the black and cyan toner cartridge then re-print all the pictures you post before to see what will happen.

Post all of them here maybe someone can help.

Sorry for my poor English i'm not living in an English using country i'm in Taiwan.
