HP Laserjet P1606dn
Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

Every time I go to print, either the printer will automatically print non-sensical letters across the top of each page (printer continues to feed continuous pages unless I stop it) OR it will say it is offline. Recently, my husband deleted the printer from System Preferences to begin a clean slate. For some reason, now, the printer can't even be read to add to system preferences (Printers). Any solutions? Thanks!

Thanks so much. Yeah, I think it may have been the cable. Have replaced with another.
