This from another forum (here😞

This turns out to be an issue with Windows 10 Type 4 printer drivers and OTF fonts (all OTFs, not just Source Sans). You can open the printer management console and check (Start\Run\printmanagement.msc) your driver type. Microsoft is aware of the issue and has created a fix which we have verified in the latest test builds of Windows 10. The bigger question is when that fix will actually get out in the field; they tend to release updates to users based on newer computers first, older ones later. The only immediate workarounds we know of are to either use the TTFs or try to find a Type 3 driver for your printer. A quick glance at HPs site doesn’t reveal the driver type so that might be difficult.

It also affects some Type 3 (particularly HP) drivers, from my own research around the web.

Let's hope the fix comes soon.

Thanks for this information. I've been having this very problem since the July Windows 10 updates began, and am back to experiencing the problem again today. I've lost so much production time and $ installing (unnecessary) printer drivers, and, setting restore points to try and resolve this issue. If the Windows "fix" is true, am hoping Microsoft will address the problem sooner, rather than later, considering user productivity is basically zero with limited font output. I tried going back to the last June 2018 Windows update, since that is the last update that allowed successful printing of all TTF/OTF fonts, but am no longer able to access that Windows update, to set a restore point. I'm convinced this is a (frustrating) Windows update issue, as the printer, an HP Color Laser Jet M452dn, can basically print everything else, with the exception of select fonts. Customers really don't get why (and shouldn't have to,) they can't receive what they requested, and it's a hard sell asking them to wait, and persuading them (and myself) that "classic" (boring!) fonts work design-wise, at least for drafts/reviews.
