Installed new toner cartridges with a document in the print queue and the screen showed I installed Genuine HP products, but wont print the doc. The LCD screen then went went off and nothing will make it come on. It did go through the calibration- adjustment sequence, then died.

Hello @KennQ, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP LaserJet Pro MFP M281DW printer.

We appreciate the opportunity to assist you and are glad we could help work toward a resolution. We hope our support has been valuable.

To help us get started on resolving your issue, could you please try a few troubleshooting steps provided below so that I can assist you further?

1. Perform a Hard Power Reset

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from both the wall outlet (avoid surge protectors) and the back of the printer.
  • Wait for at least 15 minutes to allow any residual power to fully discharge.
  • Reconnect the power cord directly to the wall outlet and turn the printer back on.

2. Isolate a Potentially Faulty Cartridge

  • If the printer powers on but shows errors or shuts down again, open the front door and access the toner drawer.
  • Remove all toner cartridges.
  • Turn the printer on without any cartridges installed.
  • Reinsert the cartridges one at a time, closing the door after each insertion, and observe if a specific cartridge triggers the issue.

3. Inspect and Clean Cartridge Contacts

  • Check the metallic chip on each toner cartridge for any leftover protective tape or debris.
  • Using a dry, lint-free cloth, gently clean the gold contact points on the cartridge and the corresponding contacts inside the printer.

4. Clear the Print Queue

  • Disconnect the printer from your computer (USB, Ethernet, or Wi-Fi) to prevent pending jobs from being sent.
  • Open the print queue on your computer and cancel any stuck or pending documents before reconnecting the printer.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
