This has been discussed earlier with people highlighting a similar problem.
I can only print photos, but not PDF, word, excel or powerpoints. Doesn't matter if it's wireless or wired connection to the network. I have not tried connecting the cable directly via USB as the computer is not accessible to the printer this way.
Scanning is fine. Print/scan doctor can send a test page and print it out properly.
One solution raised was to print PDF as "image", and this did allow printing of the PDF, but I cannot print word, excel or powerpoints directly.
If I print from Linux, it works.
In the printer status box, I can see that the file was sent to the spool, but instaneously disappears.

Hi @SC1997,
Thanks for the reply.
I see that "print as image" workaround at least gets you printing PDF documents
The problem could be caused by a corrupted user profile. You could certainly try creating a new user profile to see if that helps.
I hope this helps. I hope you have a nice day!

Hi @SC1997,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I see that you're unable to print from MS Excel, Word or PowerPoint on your HP Laserjet Pro MFP M126nw Printer. I would be happy to help you and please remember to return to this thread and mark 'Accept as Solution', if I have successfully helped you resolve the issue. If you wish to say 'thanks' for my effort to help, click the 'thumbs up' to give me a Kudos.
I understand the frustration that you're experiencing. If you're able to print from other applications, the issue is in MS Office.
I suggest that you try repairing the software, please try these guides:

If the issue persists, please contact Microsoft Corporation.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you. Good Luck! 🙂

Thanks Drakster for your help.
I have a PDF document which is a form, and that could not be printed from Adobe Reader if "print as image" under Advanced is not ticked off, it would not print.
Wordpad would not print either. Notepad can print.
Photos/pictures can be printed directly, but not from a Word or Wordpad.
Website cannot print: Firefox does not work, but Chrome is ok. Same webpage.
Windows 10 32-bit would work, while 64-bit would not.
So it appears it is not a problem with Office, but how the print job gets sent and spooled.

Hi @SC1997,
Thanks for getting back to me.
It sounds like there are software issues.
Please download and run the Print and Scan Doctor, to see if the printer is using the correct print driver.
What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor (did it print or scan, any error messages)?
If the issue persists, please use this guide:
To see if we can resolve the problem with FireFox, try the steps below.
Reset your Firefox browser settings:
- Type about:config in the Address Bar and press Enter. A list of preferences will appear.
- Find the preference print.print_printer (Note: this preference is missing in Firefox profiles where you've never used the printer.)
- Right-click (context-click) that preference and select Reset. (Some users may need to reset all the print.printer preferences for a particular printer, if resetting this one master preference doesn't solve the problem.)
- Restart Firefox and see if the problem is resolved.
I hope this information is helpful. Please respond to this post with the results. Good Luck!

Thanks.
The print and scan doctor shows everything is fine, and print a test page works.
At this point, I am giving up and will just use the PDF workaround.
There's just too much potential software conflicts possible, and I am not going to completely reinstall Windows just to see if it would resolve the problem.

Thanks. Finally got around to see if the profile is the cause, and indeed it is. Searched a bit more, and the symptoms do match, including the ability to print from Word now when running it as administrator.
