I have a laser jet printer/scanner.  It prints beautifully, but it just started having pink vertical lines on the page when I scan.  Help please.

Knowing the printer model would be very helpful. Here's some suggestions:

1: If you're scanning from the flatbed glass, it's likely that your scanner bar inside (the one that moves across the page) has gone bad. It probably would need to be replaced. However it could be a bad connection on a connector between the scanner and the logic board. Reseating the connectors could possible fix the problem.

2: If it only happens when you use the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) and not the flatbed glass, then there's likely some contamination on the glass that the paper goes past that is causing the streaks. Clean the glass and try it again.

One safe option to always try is a Power Reset to eliminate a possible logic issue:

First, make sure the printer is plugged straight into a wall outlet and not a power strip, surge protector or UPS.
With the printer plugged in and powered ON, disconnect the power cord from the printer. This will hopefully dissipate any electricity stored in the printer that could be hindering it.
Wait at least 30, preferably 60 seconds.
If there is a power switch, turn it to the OFF position.
Plug the power cable back into the printer.
Turn the printer ON with the power switch.

Good luck.
