The last time the printer was working normally was just before I replaced the magenta cartridge.

As part of my efforts to fix the problem, I updated the printer driver to the Windows 10 driver.

I have done all the troubleshooting steps in the article you sent me except #5.  Also, I unplugged the printer and then plugged it back in to force a printer reboot, and I ran the HP Printand Scan Doctor.  I've taken the magenta cartidge out and put it back again.  None of these steps have helped.  My printer world is still all magenta.

Hello, @robwal27

I see that you were interacting with @The_Fossette. I'd like to jump in with a suggestion 🙂

I see that you are facing issues with the Officejet 6600 printer where it prints only in Magenta. Do not worry, I’m here to help!

First off, let’s make sure that the printer hardware is fine. Place a color document face down on the scanner glass and press the color copy option on the printer control panel. Let me know if it makes a good copy or not.

If the copy comes out fine, the printer is fine and the issue is with the printer drivers. Perform a clean install to fix the same:

  • First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Now click http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL41856/mp-108847-3/OJ6600_Basicx64_1315.exe to install the software.
  • Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Good luck 🙂

Scanner copy was all magenta.

Hello, @robwal27

If the regular copy also is coming out in Magenta, then I'm afraid that the issue is with the printer hardware and not with the drivers installed on your PC.

Did you check the ink levels on the other cartridges? Could be possible that the other cartridges are low on ink and hence printing using the new cartridge that you installed.

If the ink levels are proper, then try the print head cleaning as suggested below:

  1. Load plain white paper into the tray.

  2. On the printer control panel, touch the right arrow  to display more options.

  3. Touch Setup, and then touch Tools. The Tools Menu displays.

  4. Touch Clean Printhead.

  5. Wait while the printer completes the printhead cleaning process, and then touch OK.

You might have to clean the printhead several times to correct the issue.

Let me know whether the cleaning pages are printed in one color or all the colors.

Cheers 🙂

Got some improvement.

First, the other cartidges have ink.

I had to run Clean Printheads three times, but now I'm getting some other colors.  Color reprodustion is still not accurate though.
