The printer prints beautiful color pages, but when the cartridge is old -- we can't replace with a new cartridge.
We follow the instructions of pushing the button of the desired color to remove, and the machine turns to that color. But we can't get it out!
A few months ago, one side of the cartridge came out and we somehow managed to get the other side out (or it finally slipped out). But now neither side can be pulled out -- and we are stuck!
Please help!

@Avrohom_D, Welcome to HP Support Community!
You can try the below steps:
-
Press the Power button to turn off the printer.
-
Remove the power cord from the rear of the printer.
-
Open the print cartridge door.
-
Grab the handle in the center of the print cartridge and remove the cartridge. Place the cartridge in its original packaging to protect it from the light.
CAUTION: Do not touch the colored rollers on the cartridges. Touching the rollers might permanently damage the print cartridges.
-
Locate the carousel brake to the left of the cartridges.
-
Insert the screwdriver into the hole, and then release the brake by pushing down on the gray or white plastic inside the hole.
Since the carousel is stuck midway you may have to try using your hand to manually move the carousel in the correct direction to reach the next toner cartridge. I would remove all toners and then turn the printer on and follow the instructions to install all the toners again. The brake they refer to is a rectangular hole at the top of the left frame which contains a plastic piece which you can press down using a flat tip screwdriver.
Refer to this document for any help.
Let me know if this helps.
Cheers 🙂

Thank you so much for responding to my post!
And I had seen these instructions for someone else's similar post. It seems he had the problem that when he opened the door the desired ink cartridge was not aligned properly.
This is not exactly my problem, however. I push on the button for the desired cartridge. The machine proceeds very nicely to turn to that cartridge. I open the door and see the desired cartridge is perfectly aligned -- but I can not pull it out! This is very frustrating. My 18 year old son tried to force it out -- and the handle of the cartridge just broke in his hand.
Can you help us?

This may be caused due to a jam inside the printer. Use a flashlight to see if there is any obstruction.
Else this possibly could be a hardware issue and we do have other support options available.
