"Jam in output bin. Open rear door and clear jam."
That's error I'm receiving. I have tried everything I can think of to clear this error.
Is there a sensor I need to replace? Or is it a junk printer?
I inherited this from a friend.
It will print one page, and as the 2nd is coming through, I get the error.
He has told me he can reset the error and it will print another 1 page, then error again.
That's why I'm thinking it is a sensor problem. Can someone point me in the right direction to permanently fix this issue?

I have found a solution.
Keep the upper door open using some tape.
I have duct taped the upper "flap" open and it will print continuously.
If someone could tell me WHY this works as a fix, it would be helpful for finding a REAL fix. Not some janky tape.
I used a 2"x1/2" wide piece of duct tape to keep the flap open.

I will try and assist. As the paper leaves the fuser unit on both sides of that unit is flaps pushing down on the paper as it exits.Sometimes these get stuck and gives that problem.Just fiddle with those flaps and make sure they move easily. That should solve the problem.
It is so nice to give some help where possible and the forum is a great idea Thank You.Sometimes a picture speaks louder than words to find a solution.Should you find my help use full just give some credit for my effort please.

Any chance you could provide a picture or schematic to show me which flaps you are referring to?
I opened the back tray and fiddled with some plastic pieces there. I didn't really see/feel any stuck flaps. But then again, i'm not sure i know what I'm looking for.
I avoided touching the foam roller.
Your help is very appreciated! Thanks!

Part 1 is me showing you the error and what it looks like from the outside.
Part 2 is with the back hatch open and shows where the paper gets stuck and what "flap" is the issue.
I did more troubleshooting and found that it is definitely the upper flap that's the problem. If I don't mess with that flap, the error persists after closing the back hatch. If I mess with it (manually open and close it after removing paper) it corrects the error and begins initializing after closing back hatch. Then it will continue printing the rest of document.

I have a problem that seems to point in the same direction, I get a paper jam error on every single page I print.
Either generated from the printer itself (configuration report) or from a computer
I get 3/4 of the page out and then it stops. I pull the page out and it printed just fine... but I get stuck with the paper jam error
I open the back door as instructed, there's nothing in there. Close the door and the paper jam error is still there
The only way I can clear the error is to turn the printer off, wait 3-5 minutes and turn it back on
If I turn it back off and immediately on, the error is still there 😞
I have tested the 4 infrared sensors I found on the paper path (1 on the back door and 3 under the top cover). All seem to work fine (voltage changes from 102 mV to 3.2 V on the receiver) when obstructed or not (one is opposite from the others).
I tried to apply your solution but I don't know what you mean by upper "flap".
Could you or anyone shed some light?
Thanks!
