LaserJet 6P
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

My Laserjet 6p prints just fine for all documents except pdf files. If I have to print a pdf file, especially if it has more than one page, the printing is extremely slow for each page and can take several minutes per page.
I’ve found that if I change the printer features graphic mode setting from HP-GL\2 to Raster then the PDF files print normally right away.
Is there a fix for this issue?

I’ve tried changing to Raster mode but it doesn’t save as the default and just reverts back to HP-GL\2 when you open a print dialogue again.

Try this.

Delete and remove Acrobat Reader from your computer.

Go the the Adobe Web site and download and install Acrobat Reader DC.  Now try.

Thanks for the quick response, but I wonder if that will help since I don't usually run Adobe but rather use either Foxit reader or Nitro Reader.

By the way, I've tried Adobe, Foxit, Nitro and Iskysoft reader, all with the same results.

Knowing that, do you still think that deleting and remove Acrobat Reader and downloading and install Acrobat Reader DC will help?

What about setting the default to Raster?

Acrobat Reader DC might help, don't know.  Something to try.  Otherwise try these Google threads here.

Search for more if needed.  Good luck.

Thanks again for trying to be of assistance.

I decided to downgrade the driver from 6p to 4p as a test and bingo. My PDF files are printing normally again.

UPDATE:

Although the 4P driver works much better when printing PDF files, it has one major flaw.  My 6P allows me to add paper to the pull-down paper tray for envelopes and such. Apparently, the actual HP 4P printer doesn't have that feature, because if I keep the 4P driver on my 6P, then I no longer have use of that function.

Oh well, back to the 6P driver.

I wish there was a way to permanently make the 6P print using "Raster" as this seems to get the PDF files to print quickly.
