HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw
macOS 10.14 Mojave

I only print rarely (once every several days), but over the last month or so, there has been a faint smell like something is overheated when the printer prints. No smoke is visible. The smell fades quickly, but was not there before. The printer is only 7 months old. I tried calling and chatting with support since I"m under warranty, but both systems hung up on me after a long wait, which I found odd. So I'm taking the question here. Any suggestions on what to look for, maybe a dirty part or something that needs to be replaced or cleaned?

Update: Finally got through to tech support by phone after another hour on hold.

The support rep said the smell is "normal." This seemed a little strange because I've been using LaserJets for years and have never smelled this before. He said if the paper shows no signs of burning (which it doesn't), then there's nothing to do.

Does this sound right? The printout does come out normal and the ink looks fine, etc.
