I'm trying to print from an Apple Macbook Air to a Hewlett-Packard LaserJet M15a. The two devices are connected via a USB cable.
The Apple Macbook Air is a 13-inch model produced in early 2015 running Catalina 10.15.3.
The Hewlett-Packard M15a has the model name W2G50A. The firmware datecode is 20190725.
I have installed HP Smart version 4.5.2 on the Macbook Air.
The HP Smart software reports a connection to the printer. The Apple Preferences > Printers and Scanners page shows the LaserJet M15a as the sole connected printer. If I reset the Printers and Scanners to remove the printer and the Add a Printer, the Apple once again reports that it is connected to the M15a.
When I send a document to the printer, the computer prepares the document and reports sending it to the printer but nothing prints. The Power button/Ready LED is on steady through all this. It does not flash. The Attention LED is always extinguished.
If I unplug the HP M15a printer from the Apple Macbook Air and, using the same cable, plug it into my laptop running Windows 10, the printer works as expected.
What shall I do next to get this printer to work on the Apple computer?

Hi Charles,
Try following HP Easy Start and check if you may see any difference once installing the HP Essential Software for the printer:

I ran the HP Easy Start program again. It finished successfully but the printer will still not print.
Then I ran HP Smart to set up the printer again. I had the printer connected to one of the USB ports on the Apple MacBook Air. The setup ran for several minutes but eventually showed a message to the effect that it couldn't find any printers. Then I changed to the other USB port on the computer and tried to set up the printer. After several minutes of delay, I received the same failure message.
Both of the USB ports on the computer work otherwise but as a precaution, I reset the system management controller (SMC) of the Apple MacBook Air. That didn't help.
The M15a printer still will not print from the Apple. What shall I try next?
