@george1971, Welcome to HP Support Community!
We do not have the full-featured software available for Windows Vista OS.
I would suggest you try the Windows built-in drivers. Follow the steps below:
• Go to Control Panel - Devices and Printers - Click on "Add printer" and follow the on-screen instructions.
• When the page prompts for the drivers, select "Windows update". The driver list will be updated.
• Click HP, Hewlett Packard, or Hewlett-Packard in the Manufacturer pane, and then click the name of your printer in the Printers pane.
Refer to this document HP Printers - Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver for help.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

You'll have to try one of the Universal Print Drivers. (UPD) It should be in the list under HP if you ran the windows update. The UPD's are usually listed at the very bottom- you won't find a model specific driver.
You can try and pull it through the support.hp.com website and click on "software and drivers" you'll most likely need a 32bit version of the UPD- or search HP UPD

if there is not already a version of the HP UPD on your computer, then yes you would have to download one. Most of the time there will already be a HP universal print driver that will be listed under "HP" in the manufacturer list. If you try to add the printer, then select "HP" under the list of manufacturers and look on the right column at the list of drivers- scroll to the bottom, and typically there will be a UPD already listed there.
I think windows Vista was end of life before that printer was even released, so you wont find a model specific print driver. Usually I can get some version of a UPD to work with older computers like that- it comes down to trial and error.
